Yep, it’s another Amsterdam outfit post. I’m not quite sure why I chose to wear a sweater on one of the hottest days of the holiday, but I think I was desperate to give it a first outing. As you can see in the second image, the sun got the better of me and I ended up stuffing my sweater into my bag, oops. Both top and sweater are from Republic, which I thought had gone into administration, but to my delight is still up and running in my local shopping centre. I like the cropped style and the American sports design, despite secretly seeing myself as a volleyball on the beach kinda’ girl, but ssh.

I’ve featured this skirt a couple of times before on my blog, which just shows how much I love it because I tend to get bored of my clothes really easily. But dipped hem, lightweight, casual AND dressy, what’s not to love?! My vans were my go-to choice of footwear; they’re such a good summer trainer and the red matches my sweater wonderfully.
Hope you like!

If you follow my blog, you’ll have read in my previous post that I recently embarked upon a little trip to Amsterdam. This is what I wore on day two; my outfit looks kinda’ grungy so the graffiti backdrop is pretty apt, right?!

My black skater dress is relatively simple, so I decided to liven it up with my red vans and checkered shirt. It has an oversized fit on me that I quite like because I can wear it unbuttoned over a top or dress. I love the frilly socks and vans combo too, they just make the outfit that bit cuter, don’t ya’ think?

This day involved a visit to Anne Frank’s house and a boat trip along the harbour and canal. Perfect and very touristy!

This week, I’ve been in the beautiful city of Amsterdam, so over the next few days my blog posts will primarily be roundups of my outfits and little snippets of the pretty sights (stay tuned!). When anyone says Amsterdam, it’s common to automatically think of the red light district, the publicised sex industry and the legitimacy of class A drugs, but there’s really so much more to this city that in my opinion doesn’t get enough credit. In fact, this ‘dark’ side of Amsterdam is really only a minute proportion of the capital as a whole, and one that’s become generalised by the huge tourist community. Aside from this, the streets are filled with breathtaking, archaic buildings and monuments that each share a historic revelation; the canals are lined with quaint house-boats, bicycles appear to be the preferred form of transport, and the picturesque parks are the city’s beauty spots.

But enough of me reminiscing, this is what I wore on day one. I only realised after uploading the photos that my outfit is very Primark-heavy! I picked up this skirt on a last minute shopping trip and it had been marked down to about £5, including the belt. I’m not overly into floral print clothes, but I liked the monochrome colour scheme and the cute nipped-in waist style. I paired it with my black, chain strap cami and Asos sandals, which proved to be a wise choice seeing as a lot of walking and exploring was done that day! Luckily the weather stayed lovely, so I didn’t need a cardigan until the evening.

Hope you like this outfit!

Pearl & Butler Festival Number 6 Competition

I love being set challenges, so when Pearl & Butler asked me to take part in their blogger competition with two tickets to North Wales’ Festival Number 6 up for grabs, I rose to the opportunity. Having already attended Wireless not so long ago, my festival fever is still running high and so I put together this festival inspired outfit in next to no time.

Perhaps being slightly optimistic on the weather front, I chose to wear my fringed denim shorts with my white lace bralet. I think I can vouch for everybody when I say that denim shorts are pretty much a go-to when it comes to festival attire – simple, comfortable, and can be paired with just about anything.

Round sunglasses are a big hit this summer, reminiscent of the late legend, John Lennon, although I don’t think I could quite pull off those signature blue lenses! I’m still yet to become a fully fledged round sunnies convert, but the half-rimmed gold effect is a nice touch. My floral kimono completes the outfit, adding a pop of colour and yet again more fringing. Festival and fringing seem to go hand in hand, right?! I love the boho chic feel it creates. And just to be on the safe side, I popped on a pair of plum Hunter wellies. Gotta keep those tootsies protected!

So that’s a round up of my festival inspired outfit. All I need now is some live music, real sun and a TAN. Ahh…

OOTD – Silk Trousers & Sandals

A short but sweet post today guys as I’m in a rush to catch my train! I went on a little shopping trip yesterday and bought this necklace, pair of trousers and sandals. The trousers are the Chelsea Silk Trousers from French Connection and were a steal at £29 in the sale from a whopping £87! They are 100% silk, meaning they are extra soft and super comfy, perfect for summer. My sandals were £9 down from £20 and are ideal for daytime wear. They can be paired with almost anything and the crossover design adds a cute little touch. The necklace was £4 and is from Primark. I don’t really see the point in spending ridiculous amounts on jewellery from places like Topshop when you can find pieces that are just as pretty yet so much cheaper elsewhere, AND are exactly the same quality.

So that’s a short roundup of my purchases. Sorry I haven’t made this post an entertaining read, but I’m off to London today for three whole weeks where I am going to embark upon 2 fashion writing internships. Wish me luck!
I’ll try to post as much as I can when I’m away, but apologies in advance if there’s a delay.

Post to you soon xoxo

Last Sunday I attended Wireless festival in London. I’ve only ever attended one festival in my life which was Parklife in Manchester, so it was exciting to experience a case of festival fever once again (this time without the rain and mud!). Being highly unprepared on the wardrobe front and only deciding what to wear half an hour before we had to leave, I threw on this top and shorts combo. I purchased the shorts from Zara last summer and fell in love with the cute, crochet design. And since about 90% of the girls at Wireless were wearing denim shorts, I was really glad I opted for these! My top is just a plain, dipped-hem style vest from Primark – simple, lightweight and of course, NEON (will I ever get over this trend?). I accessorised with my floral crown, adding a girly touch, but chose to grunge it up a little with my Topshop Mighty boots (here) and dark plum lip in the shade Media by M.A.C.

Wireless was far better than I imagined and I had an amazing time drinking and dancing around in the sun. My highlights were definitely the two main acts: Justin Timberlake and Jay Z, and of course Rihanna’s surprise entrance! I definitely need to attend more festivals in the future; they’re such a fun summer thing to do and make a nice change from an indoor concert. Next stop Coachella anyone?

Post to you soon! xoxo

OOTD – Summer daytime style

Top - Primark Shorts - adl (Istanbul, Turkey) Clutch - Select Ring - Ebay Shoes - Zara

When the sun is shining, I love nothing more than catching up with friends and family over lunch and cocktails, and yesterday I did exactly that. I decided to wear a relatively simple outfit paired with my favourite Zara sandals. I purchased this top last week as I was on the hunt for a loose-fitted cami. I spotted this in Primark and was attracted to the gold chain straps which I think add an element of sophistication (never thought I would say sophistication and Primark in the same sentence), disguising the £5 price tag. The material is soft and satin-like, without that thin, cheap sort of feel to it like I tend to notice with a lot of Primark tops.

My shorts are from a Turkish clothing store called adl, which I purchased on a shopping trip in Istanbul last summer. Similar to my top, they are extremely lightweight and soft, making them easy to wear in hotter weather. I love the tie belt and the bright coral shade which really sets off the outfit.

Since my top has little gold straps, I chose my accesories accordingly. My ring is from Ebay (here) and flew all the way from Hong Kong; I like its unusual shape and for 99p with free p+p I couldn’t really complain! I completed the outfit with my cream, studded clutch which I bought from Select – a shop which I NEVER go into because I personally find the clothes really tacky (I’d say it’s similar to Quiz, if you’re familiar with that shop in the UK), but I spotted this in the window and I think it was only about £8! Thinking about it, I’m not entirely sure the shop even exists anymore?!

Hope you’re all enjoying the beautiful weather!

OOTD – Summer Ball

My days at university are sadly over and the time has arrived for me to enter the big wide world *cowers behind a textbook*. To celebrate this excitingly scary milestone, my friends and I attended the summer ball, hosted by the university itself. It was a splendid evening filled with fairground rides, cocktail bars and even a cheeky performance by JLS (which admittedly, I chose not to watch).

During my trip to London (mentioned here), I visited the renowned Oxford Circus to embark upon the hunt for a dress deemed fit for the occasion. As much as I adore shopping, I soon became hot and bothered after stripping in and out of my clothes in countless changing rooms, and so settled on this turquoise number from Zara. After recovering from my fluster, it wasn’t until I got home that I really knew I’d made the right choice. The bright colour really catches the eye, perfect for the summer, and one that my wardrobe has not yet been acquainted with. The dress is adorned with a stunning lace print and is affixed by a zip down the back. In a bid to keep my jewellery minimalistic, I opted for a H&M necklace embellished with pretty white roses and diamantes – I love how the white really complements the turquoise.

In accordance with the summer theme, I became beguiled by these Zara sandals and before I knew it, I was keying in my card number. The buckle detail is super cute and I have to say that they are actually a treat to walk in – my feet survived the night without any telltale blisters or bruises the next morning, result! I can foresee that these will be my go-to pair of heels this summer; I think they’ll look divine with a pair of patterned tailored trousers and a clutch.

All in all: a successful evening and an even more successful outfit.
