This afternoon I went to view the Claire Richards SS14 collection for Fashion World, hosted in the beautiful Haymarket hotel in central London. Some of you may remember Claire Richards as ‘the blonde one’ from Steps (what a 90s throwback?!), but since stepping away (see what I did there?) from her pop-star days, she’s gone on to launch her very own clothing line with Fashion World, designed to allow women to celebrate their curvaceous frames in style.
The set up for the event was based around a tea party theme, which as you can probably imagine, featured all things cute, pretty and quaint. I felt as though I had stepped into a miniature doll’s house filled with pastel-rainbow meringues and cupcakes, cocktails in teacups and Essie manicures. It really was so lovely. But aside from all the dainty touches, there was a Q&A session between Claire Richards and fashion director Hilary Alexander, in which I got to learn more about Claire’s inspiration and ideas behind her designs. It was refreshing to discover that she actually took a hands-on approach into the making of her collection, rather than taking a back seat – which unfortunately a lot of celebrity fashion collaborators are notorious for. I had a sneak peek through her spring/summer designs and decided that my favourite piece was the pastel blue tweed dress. I could envisage it looking so cute on a sunny spring day!
Claire Richards’ SS14 collection is available in sizes 12-32 from fashionworld.co.uk
