When Clarins sent me a selection of makeup treats from their Opalescence spring collection there was no hiding my excitement. Having only ever used a small number of Clarins skincare products I was intrigued to discover whether their cosmetics would live up to such a high standard. It felt like Christmas all over again when I opened each little box and on first impressions, I was far from disappointed. The packaging of the collection is simply luxurious, with each product beautifully presented in reflective gold cases, reminiscent of little treasure chests.

First up are the cream blushers, which can also be used on the lips to create a delicate hint of colour. The formula of the blushers is extremely light and when applied create a natural, fresh-faced look which I think will look perfect throughout spring and summer.

Clarins Joli Rouge Brilliant Sheer Shine Lipstick in Coral Tulip – £18*

I received the Radiance Boosting Complexion Base in peach, which can be used as a primer under foundation or worn alone to create a flawless finish. It contains light reflecting particles that make the skin look juicier, glowing and healthier all-round . I’d recommend wearing a good moisturiser before applying this to prevent any dryness.

The Joli Rouge Brilliant lipstick may look super bright, but actually applies almost transparent with just a subtle hint of colour. It feels really moisturising on the lips and has a gorgeous shimmery (but not OTT) finish.

Clarins Gloss Prodige in Crystal - £17* Clarins Eye Quartet Mineral Palette - £31*

Clarins Eye Quartet Mineral Palette – £31*

Essentially the lip gloss is just a transparent gloss, but I have to say that the rich formula makes it long-lasting and the sweet, floral scent is divine!

I decided to save the best until last as this is by far my most favourite product in the collection. The Eye Quartet Mineral Palette – isn’t it a beauty? It boasts four stunning shades that can be worn both dry or wet to create deeper pigmentation. The silver shadow (top right) contains flecks of glitter that look stunning in the light and is best applied as a top coat over the other eyeshadows. The handy little guide shows you which shades to use on certain areas. It’s the perfect kit to mastering the plum smokey eye – I just love it.

The Clarins Opalescence spring collection will be available to purchase this month so keep your eyes open!

What are your first impressions?

Post to you soon! xoxo
