I know it’s only November, but it’s never too early to get into the Christmas spirit. The German Christmas markets arrived in Manchester this weekend and although I visit them each year, I was still brimming with excitement to head down. Of course, it felt customary to dig out my Christmas jumper, but luckily with the monochrome palette I didn’t so much resemble a walking Christmas tree…
A lot more effort had been put into the market display this year, with a giant Christmas-themed, wooden windmill and a vintage Christmas lounge in an outdoor bar setting where you could sit back with a festive cocktail, a stein of German beer or a mug of hearty mulled wine. The annual traditions still remained, such as the larger than life Santa attraction gracing the town hall in all its LED glory, proving a big hit with the tourists and locals alike. After a lot of walking (or rather, pushing) through the crowds, admiring the cute stalls and displays, and filling up on chocolate crepes and cinnamon and syrup glazed nuts, we decided to retreat from the festivities and go home. I’ll no doubt be making a few more trips to the market throughout the Christmas period.
Have you paid a visit to any of the Christmas markets yet?
Post to you soon! xoxo
