I’m all for discovering a beauty product that I have never heard of or read about before, so when I received the deep cleansing oil by DHC I was both intrigued and delighted. DHC is a leading, Japanese skincare company which specialises in creating carefully formulated products using the finest natural ingredients. The deep cleansing oil is enriched with the goodness of olive oil and blended with the all important nutrients of vitamin E, which work to help unclog pores and clear the skin of impurities and makeup.
Now first things first, the only oil-based beauty products that I ever indulge in either hydrate my hair or promote tanning, so using an oil to cleanse my face was a skincare regime that I was yet to try. The product claims to dissolve makeup, but since my foundation is a thicker coverage I decided to stick to my normal makeup removal routine and apply the oil afterwards to remove any excess. Ensuring that my hands and face are dry, I dispense the product into the palm of my hand and using my free hand, carefully apply it to my face. The pump dispenser makes the distribution easier to gauge, which due to the runny solution is both a necessary and useful tool. I find that one pump is just enough to evenly cover my face without the oil dripping everywhere.
Massaging the oil into the skin is actually quite a relaxing experience, especially with the fragrant undertones of mint which works nicely as a pre-bedtime treatment. It eliminates dryness and leaves the skin feeling noticeably smoother and softer. Although I wouldn’t use this product as a replacement for my cream-based cleansers, it’s a wonderful addition. So who would have thought it? – I think I’ve acquired a new found admiration for oil-based skincare products! All hail DHC.

Are you familiar with DHC products? What are your thoughts on cleansing oils?

Post to you soon! xoxo

  1. I’ve only tried a few samples of their skincare products, but they are so gentle! I also have their full-size velvet skin primer — it is amazing! I just got a sample of this cleansing oil and I am now really excited to try it. I love that if you request a catalog, they send you samples. Those are my favorites companies. 😉

    • I agree – super gentle! I am yet to try their other skincare products but if this is anything to go by, I can only imagine they work wonders. I didn’t know about the samples so thanks for telling me, definitely going to be requesting a catalogue now 🙂

  2. I have been using DHC for more than a decade, and use the Deep Cleansing Oil every night. I also use it to clean my daughter’s ears by dipping a q-tip in it. She has Down Syndrome and very dry skin, so it works well for washing her face, neck and ears. She says, “It’s soft.” And it is… I never go to bed with makeup on my face, and this product makes it easy to keep that pledge.

    • Wow, more than a decade! If that’s not proof of how wonderful this product is then I don’t know what is! It’s lovely to hear that your daughter enjoys the benefits from it too. I’m so glad I started using it 🙂

  3. I recently started using cleansing oils too! However, I use the Bobbi Brown one. Despite its expensive price, I have really enjoyed using it because it doesn’t leave my face all dry and tight. ( I have combination skin). I think my cousins from Taiwan use DHC and they seem to really like Japanese brands. 🙂
